           The Victorious Woman

There is a lot of confusion today about the role of the Christian woman.  Many a woman says, "What about our rights? Are we supposed to be slaves? Iím a person too and I have a brain! I need to find out who I really am, donít I? What if my husband is unsaved or refuses to take over the leadership of the family; do I still have to submit?"

Letís find out what our role really is, according to the Word of God.

And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge; and to knowledge temperance; and to temper- ance patience; and to patience godliness; and to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity. For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall  neither be  barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.  But he that lacketh these things is blind, and cannot see afar off, and hath forgotten that he was purged from his old sins. Where- fore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall: 2 Pet 1:5-10

We need to develop:
VIRTUE [moral worth, a woman of ability]
GODLINESS [piety, holiness]
KINDNESS [compassion for others]

This all sounds very nice, but what about me? How do I get these things?Do I have to be a slave in order to please God?

Lets turn to: Prov 31:10-31

verse  10:
Who can find a virtuous woman? For her price is far above rubies.

verse 11:
The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her, so that he shall have no need of spoil.

SPOIL: this is dishonest gain; it may take on many forms:
1:  Cheating on taxes
2:  Not giving as the Lords directs
3:  Living beyond your means
4:  Coveting neighbors wealth, etc
5:  Adultery

NEVER use romance as a weapon. If necessary pray God gives you a desire for you husband and blesses your union together.

Samson had many women to chose from. The Word tells us that he rested in Delilahís lap. This indicates she offered charm and peace.  We must continue to be sweethearts to our man.

verse 12:
She will do him good and not evil all the days of her life. For man was not [created] from woman,, but woman from man; neither was man created on account of ďorĒ for the benefit of woman, but woman on account of and for the benefit of man. Therefore she should [be subject to  his authority and should] have a covering on her head [as a token, a symbol, of her submission to authority, that she may show reverence as do] the angels [and not displease them]. 1 Cor 11:8-10

1.  Fact: Woman was created for man.
2.  Fact: The angels are displeased when a wife is rebellious toward her         husband.

But if a woman has long hair, it is her ornament and  glory? For her  hair is given to her for a covering. 1 Cor 11:15  Amp Bible

1.  Long hair is a symbol of modesty. We are to be modest in our dress. This modesty means no short short, nor form fitting clothes. We are to have respect for that which belongs to our husband, as well as to the Lord: our bodies.

This also protects us from being a stumbling block causing lust to
form in the minds of men.
2.  We are to be modest in our talk being soft and gentle, not given to unclean jokes [even with our husbands] we are to be ladies.

verse 13:
She seeketh wool, and flax, and worketh willingly with her hands.

Wool:  This represents human effort, unsaved, rough

Flax: This is a plant; the women would prepare the flax on the house tops by:

1.   Laying the flax out and letting it dry in the sun.
2.   Then they would peel it; to separate the fibers
3.   Then it was time to soak it in water; to destroy the pulp.

After this procedure was complete, the flax could be used, and made into a candlewick.

As we are exposed to and surrender to the Son of God Jesus Christ, the sin and hardness [roughness] of our heart is removed and we become soft and pliable. Just as the women would work the flax so the Lord and the Holy Ghost work on us.  As the Holy Ghost soaks unto us, we like the flax are brought into the place where we can be used as God chooses. As the flax is made to be a wick for light we too are to be filled with and show our light to the world.

Unlike the flax which has no mind or will; we chose to be moldable or not. Itís up to us do we want what God has for us? Which is:

1. Faith
2  Virtue
3. Wisdom
4. Self-Control
5. Patience
6. Godliness
7. Kindness
8. Love

verse 14:
She is like the merchants ships; she bringeth her food from afar.

She walks as the Spirit directs and is loaded with the meat of the Word and the Fruit of the Spirit.
verse 15:
She riseth also while it is yet night, and giveth meat to her house hold, and a portion to her maidens.
She gives meat not milk! She receives this meat by studying the Word of God, as well as by prayer and fasting.

Why is she only able to give a portion of this meat to her  maidens?  Could it be that they could not digest the meat? Meat is often called spoiled by those drinking only milk, babies will get a terrible tummy ache and spit the meat up.

Again, itís up to each one of us; do we want to grow and mature are we happy just staying where we are?

verse 16:
She considereth a field, and buyeth it; with the fruit of her hands she planteth a vineyard.

The field is a ministry which may or may not be acknowledged.  Reaching out in love to help another person is a very real ministry.

But the fruit of the spirit is love, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance; against such there is no law.  This lady was full of the Holy Ghost and her very presence brought conviction and the love of God unto others. She walked in the fruits of the Spirit and in doing so she brought others into the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. Gal 5:22-23
