As I sit here wondering what avenue to take, in discussing this subject of spiritual warfare Iím acutely aware of the pain in my spirit. What I am hearing is the heart cry of the parents of the wayward child, the wife of the abusive husband, or the husband with the adulterous wife. There are so many needs, so much heartache.
I hear the sobs of pain and fear from the unsaved mates of the Children of God [those washed in the Blood of Jesus Christ]. They are in a lost state, not knowing where to go nor whom to turn to. There is neither reason nor hope in this heart of pain.
HELP! IíM DYING; WONíT SOMEBODY HELP ME? I CAN'T STOP WHAT I'M DOING! I'M SO SCARED AND ALONE!
This is the cry of the spirit of the unsaved; one without hope.
How do we deal with this pain we feel toward our unsaved loved one? Do we run around telling all we meet how terrible weíre being treated? Do we spread their name across the county? Do we try to make deals with God, demanding our rights? Do we turn against the LORD, because we arenít supposed to have these problems? Or do we get on our knees and petition the LORD for the salvation of this loved one?
But do we know how to fight for the souls of those we love? What are we supposed to do?
The power of the Holy Ghost, and the authority in the name of Jesus Christ to use this power, has been given to us by the LORD.
Acts 1:8 KJV
But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth
How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him. Acts 10: 38
Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.
PLEASE TAKE NOTICE!
Notwithstanding in this rejoice not, that the spirits are subject unto you; but rather rejoice, because your names are written in heaven
Itís clear from the aforementioned scriptures that we as children of God have been given the power to take back what the enemy is trying to steal. If we have the power and authority over these demons, through the name of Jesus Christ, then why arenít we all acting on it? What does this really mean?
We need to get angry at Satan, and as Paul says...
2 Tim 4:7
I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:
And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffereth violence, and the violent take it by force
Matt 11:12 Amp Bible
And from the days of John the Baptist until the present time, the kingdom of heaven has endured violent assault, and violent men seize it by force [as a precious prize--a share in the heavenly kingdom is sought with most ardent zeal and intense exertion].
All through the scriptures we read how the fight belongs to the LORD. Obviously this is truth; the power and anointing belong to God. We are Godís vessels! We must allow God to work through us. But, how do we tap into this power? What must we do? Let's start digging into the Word of God and find out.
Isaiah 58 KJV
Cry aloud, spare not, lift up thy voice like a trumpet, and shew my people their transgression, and the house of Jacob their sins.
Yet they seek me daily, and delight [externally] to know my ways, as [if they were in reality] a nation that did righteousness, and forsook not the ordinance of their God: they ask of me the ordinances of justice; they take delight in approaching to God [in visible ways].
Wherefore have we fasted, say they, and thou seest not? wherefore have we afflicted our soul, and thou takest no knowledge [of it]? Behold [O Israel], in the day of your fast [when you should be grieving for your sins] ye find pleasure, and exact all your labours [you find profit in your business, instead of stopping all work, as the law implies you and your workman should do].
Behold [the facts are that], ye fast for strife and debate, and to smite with the fist of wickedness: ye shall not fast as ye do this day, to make your voice to be heard on high [Fasting as you do you today will not cause your voice to be heard on high].
Is it such a fast that I have chosen? a day for a man to afflict his soul? [Is true fasting ely mechanical?] is it to bow down his head as a bulrush, and to spread sackcloth and ashes under him? wilt thou call this a fast, and an acceptable day to the LORD?
Is not this the fast that I have chosen? to loose the bands of wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens, and to let the oppressed go free, and that ye break every [enslaving] yoke?
Is it not to deal [divide] thy bread to the hungry, and that thou bring the poor [into your home] that are cast out to thy house? when thou seest the naked, that thou cover him; and that thou hide not thyself from [the needs of] thine own flesh?
Then shall thy light break forth as the morning, and thine health [your restoration and the power of a new life] shall spring forth speedily: and thy righteousness shall go before thee [conducting you to peace and prosperity]; the glory of the LORD shall be thy rearward [your rear guard].
Then shalt thou call, and the LORD shall answer; thou shalt cry, and he shall say, Here I am. If thou take away from the midst of thee the yoke [of oppression wherever you find them], the putting forth of the finger [pointing in scorn, toward the oppressed or the godly], and speaking vanity [every form of false, harsh, unjust, and wicked speaking];
And if thou draw out thy soul to the hungry, and satisfy the afflicted soul; then shall thy light rise in obscurity, and thy darkness be as the noonday:
And the LORD shall guide thee continually, and satisfy thy soul in drought, and make fat thy bones: and thou shalt be like a watered garden, and like a spring of water, whose waters fail not.
And they that shall be of thee shall build the old waste places [your ancient ruins shall be rebuilt]: thou shalt raise up the foundations of many generations; and thou shalt be called, The repairer of the breach, The restorer of paths to dwell in.
If thou turn away thy foot from [traveling unduly] on the sabbath, from doing thy pleasure on my holy day; and call the sabbath a delight, the holy of the LORD, honourable; and shalt honour him, not doing thine own ways, nor finding thine own pleasure, nor speaking thine own [idle] words:
Then shalt thou delight thyself in the LORD; and I will cause thee to ride upon the high places of the earth, and feed thee with the heritage [promised for you] of Jacob thy father: for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it.
It's not enough to stop eating for a meal, a day, or even a month if we don't line up with the Word of God! Isaiah 58 tells us to walk in love and by God's Word, all the time.
We must search ourselves and repent of any sins, making sure the blood is in place. Are we prepared to ask the Lord to show us how we displease Him? This takes courage, you will receive your answer; but it's well worth it and important if we want to go forward with the Lord.
WHY DO WE NEED TO FAST?
And Jesus rebuked the devil; and he departed out of him: and the child was cured from that very hour. Then came the disciples to Jesus apart, and said, Why could not we cast him out? And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you. Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting.
These scriptures are referring to the fact that Jesus prayed and fasted regularly, not just when demons were present. We need to bring our bodies under the authority of the Spirit of God. Eating needs to take its proper place, not as the focal point of our lives. As we deny our flesh and listen for the voice of God and study His Word; then we will become more Christ centered.
As we draw closer to God, we will pray His will be done, not ours. The desires of the flesh will become less and the Spirit of God will be in control.

|Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.
Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickness in high places. Eph 6:11-12
