|Psalm 23 The Shepherd
The Lord is my Shepherd
When a shepherd has a lamb that will not follow him, he will break the legs of the lamb then drape him across his shoulders to carry until the lamb is healed. This is not to be mean, but to save the lamb's life in due time. This is to bond the lamb with the shepherd, teaching him to know the shepherds voice.
Our LORD will allow much the same with us if He is forced too, teaching us know his voice and follow Him. The trials we encounter are meant to teach us to walk in His steps.
I shall not want
The LORD will supply our needs. As we give to others as He directs, we will receive in return.
And it came to pass, when the vessels were full, that she said unto her son, Bring me a vessel. And he said unto her, There is not a vessel more. And the oil stayed. Then she came and told the man of God. And he said, Go, sell the oil, and pay thy debt, and live thou and thy children of the rest. 2 Kings 4:6-7
This widow gave her last bit of oil to make bread for this prophet, and the LORD gave her enough back to pay her bills...
Give, and it shall given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal, it shall be measured to you again. Lk 6:38
He maketh me to lie down in green pastures
As we keep our eyes on the LORD and obey His directions, we shall walk in peace.
For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.
He leadeth me beside the still waters
The Holy Ghost is given to each of us at the time of our salvation, in a limited amount. There is no limit to how much of the Holy Ghost we walk in; the decision is ours whether to limit Him or not.
And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance. Acts 2:4
Nowhere in the Bible does it say the LORD has removed this gift from man- kind.
But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth. Acts1:8
Actually the choice is ours to make. We choose to listen to the Spirit of God and His Word, or we choose to listen to man.. either way the decision is ours to make. The closer we walk with the LORD the more peace we have.
He restoreth my soul
Praise God, after years of being in this world, we all are scarred and battered. As we listen to the Lord and obey, the Holy Ghost will do an inner healing in our soul [emotions, desires], recreating us to be the person we were created to be.... in the image of the LORD.
I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world; but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. Rom 12:1-2
He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness
That's Guidance! We must determine in our hearts to obey the leading of the LORD. We need to make Jesus Christ LORD of our lives in all areas, no matter what it costs us.
Thou shall guide me with thy counsel, and afterward receive me to glory. Ps 73:24
For His name sake
We are to bring glory to the LORD.. not to ourselves..
Ye that fear the Lord, praise him; all ye the seed of Jacob, glorify him; and fear him, all ye the seed of Israel Ps 22:23
This fear of God is a reverencing fear of God... He is our Holy Father.
Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father whch which is in heaven. Mt 5:15
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death
There comes a time of testing that many throw up their hands and walk away. We must keep focused on the LORD and not give up, but trust Him to take care of us, the more we keep focused on the Lord the easier our walk will be.
And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. Rom 8:28
If we are born again in Jesus Christ, then we are the called. Now whether we love Jesus or not shows in our walk. If we love Him and have faith in HIm and we will be obedient to His Word.
I will fear no evil
There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear; becasue fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love. 1 John 4:18
Perfect love is Jesus ... when our eyes are on Him we have no fear. When fear does come to us, we need to rebuke it in the name of Jesus, and get our eyes focused on Him. Again, as we trust Him to control our lives then what have we to fear?
For Thou art with me
That's Faithfulness! The Lord will never leave us, BUT, we can leave Him. He loves us so much.
Thy rod and Thy staff they comfort me
The rod is used to rule, the staff is used to bring us into line. Praise God when we hear to Holy Spirit correct us.. the Lord doesn't correct what isn't His; judgment and correction are not the same thing.
There is safty and comfort in the LORD, for this same God is fiercly protective of us. The peace of belong to the LORD passes all understanding.
Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies
The Holy Ghost is our teacher and as we search out the truths we will find them.
I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live forever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world. John 10:9
We as Children of God walk in peace and our needs are met. Our children are taken care of. We have the promise of the LORD taking care of us. Even if we are met with being a martyr; we will have the anointing to handle what comes our way with victory.
Thou anointest my head with oil
We are called to take the place of the overcomer. We are anointed to witness about the love the our Lord, and to handle all the Lord allows to come our way. We are anointed in spiritual warfare against the enemy as well. But we must be obedient to His word in order for us to walk in this wonderful anointing. We are called to come out from the world.
And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, "Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her palgues.
Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ; As obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance: But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation; Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy. 1 Peter 1:13-16
My cup runneth over
We are promised to have all our needs met. As we give we will recieve.
Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For withthe same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again. Luke 6:38
This is referring to spiritual abundance. We hear of the teaching that we are to be rich, we are to prosper. The Hebrew word for prosper is "tsaleach" it means: to succeed, prosper. Having a successful venture as contrasted with failure.
And he sought God in the days of Zechariah, who had understanding in the visions of God: and as long as he sought the LORD, God made him to prosper. 2 Chr 26:5
Prosper in the Greek is "euodoo" meaning to help on one's way or journey, signifying to have a properous journey.
Upon the first day of the week let every one of you lay by him in store, as God hath prospered him, that there be no gatherings when I come. 1 Cor 16:2
There is no promise to be rich, but our needs will be supplied, with varying degrees of extras. But it is as the LORD blesses, not for us to demand.
Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth. 3 John:2
It's the same with our health; some of us are healthy some aren't. We all are called to different walks, whether it be rich or poor.. healthy or ill... we should all be prosperous in our walk.
I have friends that have a lot of money, yet are miserable in their home... I have friends that only have their needs met and are happy at home with children growing in God... they are respected as hearing the voice of God... which one is prospering?
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life
When we are in right standing with the Lord, we will have our prayers met, and we will hear from Him. The LORD wants to have communion with His children, but are we listening? When we pray, do we wait to hear Him talk to us?
We see His hand on us in so many ways. He is a gracious loving Father.
And I will dwell in the house of the Lord
We are called to be an overcomer, and to live forever in glory with our LORD.
He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; He that overcometh shall not be hurt of the second death. Rev 2:11
Praise God, what a day that will be when we can look into the eyes of the LORD... Never to leave... we'll be safe forever..
Holy Father, thank you for your words and guidance. Thank you for loving us enough to bring us into correction when needed. Thank you for supplying our needs and even blessing us with abundance, you are so gracious and loving. I pray for myself and all who enter this site, that we'll all grow closer to you and give you all the glory. Abba there are so many chasing after the mighty dollar, and recognition, Father open the eyes to see and hear your truths, and hover over those in error. If we are in error of any kind, please show us, pulling us back into line. Touch our seed that is in the world... rise up reminding them of Your truths, bring them back Lord... send someone anointed of you to speak to each and every child of your children that is not following you. We know the time is short, raise us up to speak to the lost and discouraged ones about your love and truths of salvation. Give us the wisdom and boldness as well as your anointing... May you come quickly and may we all be counted worthy to escape the wrath that is coming. Hold us tight to your bosom Lord, we need to feel you and hear your voice from time to time. Thank you sweet Lord, in Jesus name amen.
