| CHAPTER SIXTEEN
THEN I heard a mighty voice from the temple sanctuary saying to the seven angels, Go and empty out on the earth the seven bowls of God's wrath and indignation.
The seven bowls of wrath begin to be poured out. These judgments are much more severe than the preceding ones were, and are the last ones before the reign of the Lord on Earth. This will be a literal blood-bath.
So the first [angel] went and emptied his bowl on the earth, and foul and painful ulcers (sores) came on the people who were marked with the stamp of the beast and who did homage to his image.
This first bowl produces horrible boils, burning like fire on all those having taken the Mark of the Beast. Only the redeemed (those forgiven and covered with the Blood of Jesus] not taking the mark, are not effected by this curse. These boils may be a result of a leakage from the computer chip or what ever it is that is used as the mark, placed under the skin. Again, we see a parallel between the time of Moses in Egypt and the curses of the tribulation.
This takes place after the Rapture, so those redeemed are saved during the last half of the Tribulation.
Then the LORD said to Moses and Aaron, "Take handfuls of soot from a furnace and have Moses toss it into the air in the presence of Pharaoh. 9) It will become fine dust over the whole land of Egypt, and festering boils will break out on men and animals throughout the land." 10) So they took soot from a furnace and stood before Pharaoh. Moses tossed it into the air, and festering boils broke out on men and animals.
The second angel poured out his bowl on the sea, and it turned into blood like that of a dead man, and every living thing in the sea died.
According to the Greek, this blood will be as the blood of dead men. It will be thick, coagulated, smelling horrible. This blood will cause the entire earth to reek. I cannot even imagine such a thing.
The third angel poured out his bowl on the rivers and springs of water, and they became blood.
Now all the fresh water is turned to blood as well. The third trumpet (Rev 8:10-11) destroyed 1/3 of the water, now the Lord is destroying the other 2/3 of it. There is no longer any fresh, clean drinking water on planet Earth.
And I heard the angel who had authority over all water saying, “You are just, O Holy One, who is and who always was, because you have sent these judgments. 6) Since they shed the blood of your holy people and your prophets, you have given them blood to drink. It is their just reward.”
Never pay back evil with more evil. Do things in such a way that everyone can see you are honorable. 18) Do all that you can to live in peace with everyone. 19) Dear friends, never take revenge. Leave that to the righteous anger of God. For the Scriptures say, “I will take revenge; I will pay them back,” says the Lord.
“The Lord says, ‘Am I not storing up these things, sealing them away in my treasury? 35) I will take revenge; I will pay them back. In due time their feet will slip. Their day of disaster will arrive, and their destiny will overtake them.’
We should never envy the wicked nor try to get even, the Lord keeps the tally.
And I heard a voice from the altar, saying, “Yes, O Lord God, the Almighty, your judgments are true and just.”
How often I hear it said, “The Lord loves me and wants me happy so I can do what ever and be saved. There are no restrictions on me for I am a Christian”.
Our Lord is indeed a loving Father, but He is a holy God and hates sin of any kind. He must of necessity come against and punish those who willfully sin. The unsaved person loves darkness; they pleasure in sin and immorality. The Born Again person loves righteousness and hates sin and we are grieved when we see folks doing sinful depraved things.
But to the Son he says, “Your throne, O God, endures forever and ever. You rule with a scepter of justice. 9) You love justice and hate evil. Therefore, O God, your God has anointed you, pouring out the oil of joy on you more than on anyone else
Then the fourth angel poured out his bowl on the sun, causing it to scorch everyone with its fire. 9) Everyone was burned by this blast of heat, and they cursed the name of God, who had control over all these plagues. They did not repent of their sins and turn to God and give him glory.
The heat will be unbearable as well as the sun deadly to the skin, causing unimaginable pain, but again this curse will not kill them. The water will be undrinkable. But even with all this, the people still will not repent of their sins.
The Lord of Heaven’s Armies says, “The day of judgment is coming, burning like a furnace. On that day the arrogant and the wicked will be burned up like straw. They will be consumed roots, branches, and all. 2 “But for you who fear my name, the Sun of Righteousness will rise with healing in his wings. And you will go free, leaping with joy like calves let out to pasture.
Again, we have nothing to fear. While this torment is being poured out on Earth, we will be safe in Heaven.
Then the fifth angel poured out his bowl on the throne of the beast, and his kingdom was plunged into darkness. His subjects ground their teeth in anguish, 11) and they cursed the God of heaven for their pains and sores. But they did not repent of their evil deeds and turn to God.
The Lord blacked out 1/3 of the sun and moon’s light in Rev 8:12, now He is blocking it all out. These people will have horrible burns all over their bodies, for the sun’s rays go through cloth. (I learned this while fighting LUPUS when I was so sensitive to the sun’s rays). Therefore, these people will be scorched, when all of a sudden, it gets dark and cold air hits their hot skin. The pain would be unendurable enough for them to bite their tongue.
Woe to you who long for the day of the LORD! Why do you long for the day of the LORD? That day will be darkness, not light. 19) It will be as though a man fled from a lion only to meet a bear, as though he entered his house and rested his hand on the wall only to have a snake bite him. 20) Will not the day of the LORD be darkness, not light— pitch-dark, without a ray of brightness?
The "Day of the LORD" is the day of judgment. It is but a breath away!
Who can stand before His indignation? And who can stand up and endure the fierceness of His anger? His wrath is poured out like fire, and the rocks are broken asunder by Him.
“That terrible day of the Lord is near. Swiftly it comes—a day of bitter tears, a day when even strong men will cry out. 15) It will be a day when the Lord’s anger is poured out a day of terrible distress and anguish, a day of ruin and desolation, a day of darkness and gloom, a day of clouds and blackness, 16) a day of trumpet calls and battle cries. Down go the walled cities and the strongest battlements! 17) “Because you have sinned against the Lord, I will make you grope around like the blind. Your blood will be poured into the dust, and your bodies will lie rotting on the ground.”
In spite of horrible pain, these people folllowing the anti-Christ are so hardened in their hearts that they cannot or will not ask the LORD to be their Savior. Again this pain lines up with the curses put on Egypt.
Then the sixth angel poured out his bowl on the great Euphrates River, and it dried up so that the kings from the east could march their armies toward the west without hindrance.
Turkey has built a series of dams in the Euphrates River, which when dry will make a way for the Kings of the east [China. Russia, Indonesia and other Asian countries] to march into Israel. The army from the south is Africa. The Euphrates is a natural barrier for Israel against the armies of the world. These armies are directed by satanic powers to the war of Armageddon. This sixth angel prepares the way by using these dams to dry up the river Euphrates, allowing armies from the east to approach the vicinity of Israel.
“Then at the time of the end, the king of the south will attack the king of the north. The king of the north will storm out with chariots, charioteers, and a vast navy. He will invade various lands and sweep through them like a flood. 41) He will enter the glorious land of Israel, and many nations will fall, but Moab, Edom, and the best part of Ammon will escape.
The King of the south is Africa/Egypt. The King from the North is Russia. The Glorious Land is Israel. Edom, Moab and Ammon is Jordan, which is delivered from the anti-Christ and where Petra is located. The war is against the anti-Christ having control over the world.
Then I saw three evil spirits that looked like frogs; they came out of the mouth of the dragon, out of the mouth of the beast and out of the mouth of the false prophet. 14)They are spirits of demons performing miraculous signs, and they go out to the kings of the whole world, to gather them for the battle on the great day of God Almighty.
These three spirits are demons. The dragon is Satan; the beast is the anti-Christ, and the false prophet. These are the unholy trinity. They will do many miracles deceiving many into thinking they are Holy and should be followed. Again, I need to emphasize the point of not following miracles and signs. We need to follow the Lord and His Word, which will keep us from harm.
"Behold, I come like a thief! Blessed is he who stays awake and keeps his clothes with him, so that he may not go naked and be shamefully exposed."
John pauses just long enough to quote Jesus directly warning us not to miss the rapture. It is a necessity we continue to wear robe of righteousness and the full armor of God Eph 6.
And the demonic spirits gathered all the rulers and their armies to a place with the Hebrew name Armageddon.
Say to the nations far and wide: “Get ready for war! Call out your best warriors. Let all your fighting men advance for the attack. 10) Hammer your plowshares into swords and your pruning hooks into spears. Train even your weaklings to be warriors. 11) Come quickly, all you nations everywhere. Gather together in the valley.”
Armageddon in the Hebrew means the mountain of Megiddo. This will be the center of the battle of that great day of God Almighty. This war will terminate when Jesus returns to destroy the wicked and to deliver His people and set up His Kingdom.
“Let the nations be called to arms. Let them march to the valley of Jehoshaphat. There I, the Lord, will sit to pronounce judgment on them all. 13) Swing the sickle, for the harvest is ripe. Come, tread the grapes, for the winepress is full. The storage vats are overflowing with the wickedness of these people.” 14) Thousands upon thousands are waiting in the valley of decision. There the day of the Lord will soon arrive. 15) The sun and moon will grow dark, and the stars will no longer shine. 16) The Lord’s voice will roar from Zion and thunder from Jerusalem, and the heavens and the earth will shake. But the Lord will be a refuge for his people, a strong fortress for the people of Israel.
Then the seventh angel poured out his bowl into the air. And a mighty shout came from the throne in the Temple, saying, “It is finished!” 18) Then the thunder crashed and rolled, and lightning flashed. And a great earthquake struck—the worst since people were placed on the earth. 19) The great city of Babylon split into three sections, and the cities of many nations fell into heaps of rubble. So God remembered all of Babylon’s sins, and he made her drink the cup that was filled with the wine of his fierce wrath. 20) And every island disappeared, and all the mountains were leveled.
When the Word uses the word, Babylon it is referring to an evil civilization, a wicked city. Jerusalem is the seat of the anti-Christ.
“Then he will stir up his courage and raise a great army against the king of the south. The king of the south will go to battle with a mighty army, but to no avail, for there will be plots against him. 26) His own household will cause his downfall. His army will be swept away, and many will be killed. 27) Seeking nothing but each other’s harm, these kings will plot against each other at the conference table, attempting to deceive each other. But it will make no difference, for the end will come at the appointed time.
Not all countries will accept the anti-Christ as their world leader, wanting this postion for themselves. While these world leaders sit at the table with the anti-Christ speaking peace their armies are in the process of attacking the anti-Christ's armies.
He will conquer many countries, and even Egypt will not escape. 43) He will gain control over the gold, silver, and treasures of Egypt, and the Libyans and Ethiopians will be his servants. 44) “But then news from the east and the north will alarm him, and he will set out in great anger to destroy and obliterate many. 45) He will stop between the glorious holy mountain and the sea and will pitch his royal tents. But while he is there, his time will suddenly run out, and no one will help him.
These countries are marching upon "him" the anti-Christ, refusing to accept him as the ruler of the World. At this point the anti-Christ goes after these armies with a great fury. This is the beginning of the Battle of Armageddon
Hear this message from the Lord, all you who tremble at his words: “Your own people hate you and throw you out for being loyal to my name. ‘Let the Lord be honored!’ they scoff. ‘Be joyful in him!’ But they will be put to shame. 6) What is all the commotion in the city? What is that terrible noise from the Temple? It is the voice of the Lord taking vengeance against his enemies.
Watch, for the day of the Lord is coming when your possessions will be plundered right in front of you! 2) I will gather all the nations to fight against Jerusalem. The city will be taken, the houses looted, and the women raped. Half the population will be taken into captivity, and the rest will be left among the ruins of the city. 3) Then the Lord will go out to fight against those nations, as he has fought in times past. 4) On that day his feet will stand on the Mount of Olives, east of Jerusalem. And the Mount of Olives will split apart, making a wide valley running from east to west. Half the mountain will move toward the north and half toward the south. 5) You will flee through this valley, for it will reach across to Azal. Yes, you will flee as you did from the earthquake in the days of King Uzziah of Judah. Then the Lord my God will come, and all his holy ones with him.
This speaks of the return of our Lord and His defending His people. God will fight for His people. At this time Jesus Christ will return to Mount Olives, from which he ascended to heaven. Praise God, He will return to set up His kingdom here on earth. And, we'll be coming with Him!
And great (excessively oppressive) hailstones, as heavy as a talent [between fifty and sixty pounds], of immense size, fell from the sky on the people; and men blasphemed God for the plague of the hail, so very great was [the torture] of that plague.
Nuclear blasts cause darkness over the land as well as violent turbulence in the upper atmosphere, causing winter and huge hail. After all this man is still unwilling to repent!
