                                  CHAPTER  TEN

Verse  1
Then I saw another mighty angel coming down from heaven, surrounded by a cloud, with a rainbow over his head. His face shone like the sun, and his feet were like pillars of fire.

This mighty angel spoken of here is the Lord Jesus Christ. I say this because for one, He is “robed in a cloud”, all through the scriptures when ever we see the word “cloud” this is referring to the Lord .

Dan 7:13-14
As my vision continued that night, I saw someone like a son of man coming with the clouds of heaven. He approached the Ancient One and was led into his presence. 14) He was given authority, honor, and sovereignty over all the nations of the world, so that people of every race and nation and language would obey him. His rule is eternal—it will never end. His kingdom will never be destroyed.

Jesus is in the clouds. “His face was like the sun” the sun is the Power, glory and brightness of Jesus.

Mal 4:2
“But for you who fear my name, the Sun of Righteousness will rise with healing in his wings

Ex 3:2
There the angel of the Lord appeared to him in a blazing fire from the middle of a bush. Moses stared in amazement. Though the bush was engulfed in flames, it didn’t burn up.

Heb 12:29
For our God is a devouring fire.

“His feet as pillars of fire” refers to His holiness and all consuming Power .

The rainbow is God remembering His covenant concerning the earth having no more floods to destroy all living things. (Gen 9:13-16, Ez 1:26-28, Rev 4:2-3).

Verse 2
And in his hand was a small scroll that had been opened. He stood with his right foot on the sea and his left foot on the land.

Again, this angel must be Jesus for He alone is worthy to open this book (Rev 5:1-5).  The use of the word “Sea” always refers to many people or nations. Having His foot on the earth signifies this book will affect the entire Earth.

Verse 3
And he gave a great shout like the roar of a lion. And when he shouted, the seven thunders answered.

The “lion” in the Greek is indicative of His royalty, strength, and majesty (Prov 28:1, 30:30). These seven thunders giving voice are the seven spirits of God. (Ps 29:1-7)

Verse 3
And he gave a great shout like the roar of a lion. And when he shouted, the seven thunders unswered.

Our Lord takes care of us as we try to walk in His light.  He will uncover that which trips us up much as He will cause the forest to lose its foliage. Thunder, much like the cloud refers to the power of the Lord.  He speaks through thunder and lightening (Ex 19:16, 1 Sam 2:10, Job 26:14, Isa 29:6).

Verse 4
When the seven thunders spoke, I was about to write. But I heard a voice from heaven saying, “Keep secret what the seven thunders said, and do not write it down.”

There were situations that God forbid John to include in his notes.  There are various things coming upon this planet and humanity that we are not able to know about, much like the vision Daniel experienced.

Dan 8:26-27
“This vision about the 2,300 evenings and mornings is true. But none of these things will happen for a long time, so keep this vision a secret.” 27) Then I, Daniel, was overcome and lay sick for several days. Afterward I got up and performed my duties for the king, but I was greatly troubled by the vision and could not understand it.

The “vision” that Daniel had was not for the people of that day, but rather for us in these last days.  Most of the book of Revelation and the corresponding scriptures had little to no meaning for those studying it until recently when the Holy Spirit began to open our eyes. This vision of Daniel’s correlates with what was reveled to John yet was unable to share with anyone. I imagine John felt much the same as Daniel when he realized there was no one who would understand it.

The "seven thunders" are
not trumpets.

Verse 5-6
Then the angel I saw standing on the sea and on the land raised his right hand toward heaven. 6) He swore an oath in the name of the one who lives forever and ever, who created the heavens and everything in them, the earth and everything in it, and the sea and everything in it. He said, “
There will be no more delay".

This again shows us the power of our Holy God, He alone is able to call  the tribulatoin to begin or halt. What a fearful thing is would be for those not under the protection of the Lord.

Heb 10:31
It is a terrible thing to fall into the hands of the living God.

Mark 13:32
“However, no one knows the day or hour when these things will happen, not even the angels in heaven or the Son himself. Only the Father knows. 33 And since you don’t know when that time will come,
be on guard! Stay alert!

Verse 7
But that when the days come when the
trumpet call of the seventh angel is about to be sounded, then God's mystery (His secret design, His hidden purpose), as He had announced the glad tidings to His servants the prophets, should be fulfilled (accomplished, completed).

This scripture is referring to the Rapture, which will take place at the “seventh trumpet” and not before. The mystery spoken of in the Bible is the Gospel of Jesus Christ and how He died that those of us asking for His forgiveness of our sins and making Him our Lord will have life ever lasting, as well as Jesus coming to take us Home in what we call the Rapture.

1 Cor 15:50-58
What I am saying, dear brothers and sisters, is that our physical bodies cannot inherit the Kingdom of God. These dying bodies cannot inherit what will last forever. 51) But let me reveal to you a wonderful secret. We will not all die, but we will all be transformed! 52) It will happen in a moment, in the blink of an eye, when the last trumpet is blown. For when the trumpet sounds, those who have died will be raised to live forever. And we who are living will also be transformed. 53) For our dying bodies must be transformed into bodies that will never die; our mortal bodies must be transformed into immortal bodies. 54) Then, when our dying bodies have been transformed into bodies that will never die, this Scripture will be fulfilled: “Death is swallowed up in victory. 55) O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting?” 56) For sin is the sting that results in death, and the law gives sin its power. 57)  But thank God! He gives us victory over sin and death through our Lord Jesus Christ. 58) So, my dear brothers and sisters, be strong and immovable. Always work enthusiastically for the Lord, for you know that nothing you do for the Lord is ever useless.

There are many passages concerning this "mystery" such as: Mk 4:11, Rm 16:25, 1 Cor 2:7, 15:50, Eph 1:9, 3:3, 5:32, & 6:19. The verses I listed are not to be read alone, if you'll read the scriptures following the ones listed I know you'll be blessed and get a fuller picture of this wonderful "mystery" that we are a very real part of.

Verse 8
Then the voice from heaven spoke to me again: “Go and take the open scroll from the hand of the angel who is standing on the sea and on the land.”

Jesus is the one holding the scroll.

Verse  9-11
So I went to the angel and told him to give me the small scroll. “Yes, take it and eat it,” he said. “It will be sweet as honey in your mouth, but it will turn sour in your stomach!” 10) So I took the small scroll from the hand of the angel, and I ate it! It was sweet in my mouth, but when I swallowed it, it turned sour in my stomach. 11) Then I was told, “You must prophesy again about many peoples, nations, languages, and kings.”

There's nothing sweeter in the world then to hear the voice of God, and to be used by Him.  Yet, it's bitte and makes me sick to my stomache to see the pain, sorrow and rebellion that gets a hold of man

Eze 2:3-10
“Stand up, son of man,” said the voice. “I want to speak with you.” 2) The Spirit came into me as he spoke, and he set me on my feet. I listened carefully to his words. 3) “Son of man,” he said, “I am sending you to the nation of Israel, a rebellious nation that has rebelled against me. They and their ancestors have been rebelling against me to this very day. 4) They are a stubborn and hard-hearted people. But I am sending you to say to them, ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says!’ 5) And whether they listen or refuse to listen—for remember, they are rebels—at least they will know they have had a prophet among them.   6) “Son of man, do not fear them or their words. Don’t be afraid even though their threats surround you like nettles and briers and stinging scorpions. Do not be dismayed by their dark scowls, even though they are rebels. 7) You must give them my messages whether they listen or not. But they won’t listen, for they are completely rebellious! 8) Son of man, listen to what I say to you. Do not join them in their rebellion. Open your mouth, and eat what I give you.” 9) Then I looked and saw a hand reaching out to me. It held a scroll, 10) which he unrolled.
And I saw that both sides were covered with funeral songs, words of sorrow, and pronouncements of doom.

Ezek 3:1-9
The voice said to me, “Son of man, eat what I am giving you—eat this scroll! Then go and give its message to the people of Israel.” 2) So I opened my mouth, and he fed me the scroll. 3) “Fill your stomach with this,” he said. And when I ate it, it tasted as sweet as honey in my mouth. 4) Then he said, “Son of man, go to the people of Israel and give them my messages. 5) I am not sending you to a foreign people whose language you cannot understand. 6) No, I am not sending you to people with strange and difficult speech. If I did, they would listen! 7) But the people of Israel won’t listen to you any more than they listen to me! For the whole lot of them are hard-hearted and stubborn. 8) But look, I have made you as obstinate and hard-hearted as they are. 9) I have made your forehead as hard as the hardest rock! So don’t be afraid of them or fear their angry looks, even though they are rebels.”

My hearts prayer is that neither you, I nor our loved ones are guilty of being hard hearted.  We each need to search ourselves making sure we will not miss the rapture, I want to please the Lord and be counted worthy to escape the judgment about to come.

Luke 21:34-36
“Watch out! Don’t let your hearts be dulled by carousing and drunkenness, and by the worries of this life. Don’t let that day catch you unaware, 35) like a trap. For that day will come upon everyone living on the earth. 36) Keep alert at all times. And pray that you might be strong enough to escape these coming horrors and stand before the Son of Man.”
