| A NEW NAME
To them I will give in My house and within My walls a memorial and a name better [and more enduring] than sons and daughters; I will give them an everlasting name that will not be cut off. Also the foreigners who join themselves to the Lord to minister to Him and to love the name of the Lord and to be His servants, everyone who keeps the Sabbath so as not to profane it and who holds fast My covenant [by conscientious obedience]--- All these I will bring to My holy mountain and make them joyful in My house of prayer. Their burnt offerings and their sacrifices will be accepted on My altar; for My house will be called a house of prayer for all peoples.
Before I go any further, we that are not Jewish, are the foreigners. When we accept Jesus as our LORD, we are still not, nor ever will be Jewish. We are adopted into the family and in the sight of God there is neither Greek nor Jew, male nor female. But we are never going to be "Jewish". There is a move in many churches claiming that as we are born again we become Jewish; this is error. Remember to line everything up with the scriptures.
In this passage the word "Name" in Hebrew is:
shem: conspicuous position, as a mark or memorial of individuality; honor, authority.
For one thing Christian which is so freely used, really means: Christ like.
We have been given the Name of Jesus to use as we need too. It's like a key to unlock a door.
He who overcomes (is victorious), I will make him a pillar in the sanctuary of My God; he shall never be put out of it or go out of it, and I will write on him the name of My God, and the name of the city of My God, the new Jerusalem, which descends from My God out of heaven, and My own new name.
He who is able to hear, let him listen to and heed what the Spirit says to the assemblies (churches). To him who overcomes (conquers), I will give him a white stone with a new name engraved on the stone, which no one knows or understands except he who receives it.
Jesus Christ is the Hidden Manna, which we can only really see (salvation is not understood or appreciated until we ask Him to be LORD) when we accept Him as our Savior; turning away from sin.
The White Stone was used to vote with in times past. White was for Innocent; Black was for Guilty.
Another use of the stone was:
A host would show special appreciation to a person by giving a White Stone, with the persons name or a message written on it.
A New Name implies having the Authority, Character, Rank, and Power to do whatever when using Christ's name and being identified with Him.
We as Children of God; washed in the life giving, soul cleansing Blood of Jesus; receive the White Stone!
Not only does this Stone show us as innocent, but we are special and have been given a new name to act upon. The name of Jesus Christ is our Signature on a blank check!
Praise the Name of Jesus.
