|A man's [moral] self shall be filled with the fruit of his mouth; and with the consequence of his words he must be satisfied [whether good or evil]. Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and they who indulge in it shall eat the fruit of it [for death or life].
|THERE IS SPIRITUAL LIFE OR DEATH IN OUR WORDS
Half Truths, White Lies, Fabrications, Fibs, False Accusations, what do all
these have in common with each other?
Rev 21:7-8 He who is victorious shall inherit all these things, and I will be God to him and he shall be My son. But as for the cowards and the ignoble and the contemptible and the cravenly lacking in courage and the cowardly submissive, and as for the unbelieving and faithless, and as for the depraved and defiled with abominations, and as for murderers and the lewd and adulterous and the practicers of magic arts and the idolaters (those who give supreme devotion to anyone or anything other than God) and all liars (those who knowingly convey untruth by word or deed)--[all of these shall have] their part in the lake that blazes with fire and brimstone. This is the second death.
Does the above scripture apply to tiny white fibs?
Ps 5: 6 You will destroy those who speak lies; the Lord abhors [and rejects] the bloodthirsty and deceitful man.
Doesn’t this mean that only those telling lies to harm others will be punished? What about when we tell a tiny little fib just to keep from hurting someone?
Ps 101:7-8 He who works deceit shall not dwell in my house; he who tells lies shall not continue in my presence. Morning after morning I will root up all the wicked in the land, that I may eliminate all the evildoers from the city of the Lord.
Prov 12:19, 22 Truthful lips shall be established forever, but a lying tongue is [credited] but for a moment. Lying lips are extremely disgusting and hateful to the Lord, but they who deal faithfully are His delight.
What about telling little half truths when filing our tax’s, after all,
they are using our “Christian money” to kill unborn babies?
Prov 21:6-7 Securing treasures by a lying tongue is a vapor driven to and fro; those who seek them seek death. The violence of the wicked shall sweep them away, because they refuse to do justice.
As a Christian we aren’t supposed to hurt a person’s feelings so what about TINY little lies just to make someone feel better?
Col 3:6, 9 It is on account of these [very sins] that the [holy] anger of God is ever coming upon the sons of disobedience (those who are obstinately opposed to the divine will), Do not lie to one another, for you have stripped off the old (unregenerate) self with its evil practices,
We cannot forget the 21st chapter of Revelation Verse 8b: all liars (those who knowingly convey untruth by word or deed)--[all of these shall have] their part in the lake that blazes with fire and brimstone. This is the second death.
James 3:6 And the tongue is a fire. [The tongue is a] world of wickedness set among our members, contaminating and depraving the whole body and setting on fire the wheel of birth (the cycle of man's nature), being itself ignited by hell (Gehenna).
It isn’t necessary to hit someone over the head with a truth that would unnecessarily hurt them; for example: a friend asks you how you like her new dress which you see as any thing but nice; what do you say? How about commenting on how nice the color goes with her skin, or how soft the fabric is. There are positive things to be said in most situations with out resorting to lies.
We each need to pray for more wisdom and grace.
Under no circumstances are we to lie. There is no such thing as a “tiny fib” or a “little white lie”. A lie is a death sentence coming from our mouth, which will keep us out of Heaven.
If you are guilty of telling a lie then repent, asking the Lord to forgive you as well as asking Him to help you get victory over lying. With His help you need never tell another lie.
