|And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission. Heb 9:22
That precious life giving blood, nothing can pierce through it. When we're under attack and that blood is over us those demons cannot come near us. When we're troubled and we ask Him to cover our minds with the blood, we have total peace of mind. Thank you Jesus, thank you for your sacrifice for our sins, thank you for your love and grace.
Back to Exodus 12:
23-27 For the LORD will pass through to smite [slay, kill] the Egyptians; and when he seeth the blood upon the lintel, and on the two side posts, the LORD will pass over the door, and will not suffer the destroyer to come in unto your houses to smite you And ye shall observe this thing for an ordinance to thee and to thy sons for ever. And it shall come to pass, when ye be come to the land which the LORD will give you, according as he hath promised, that ye shall keep this service. And it shall come to pass, when your children shall say unto you, What mean ye by this service? That ye shall say, It is the sacrifice of the LORD's passover, who passed over the houses of the children of Israel in Egypt, when he smote the Egyptians, and delivered our houses. And the people bowed the head and worshipped.
Praise the Lamb of God
And ye fathers, provoke [irritate] not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition [counsel] of the Lord. Eph 6:4
Our children are to be brought up to fear the Lord, knowing His promises as well as His expectations of us. We are responsible to teach our young to serve the Lord and to know of His great love for us.
And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD. Josh 24:15
And when a stranger dwells with you and wants to keep the Passover to the LORD, let all his males be circum- cised, and then let him come near and keep it; and he shall be as a native of the land. For no uncircumcised person shall eat it. Ex 12:48
We that are grafted into the "Olive Tree" which is Israel, through the Blood of Jesus Christ, are to stand fast in the liberty of Christ! Paul tells us that circumcision avaith nothing!
Circumcision is nothing, and uncircumcision is nothing, but the keeping of the commandments of God. 1 Cor 7:19
For in Jesus Christ neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision; but faith which worketh by love Gal 5:6
Many false teachers would tell us lies to rob us of our liberty in Him. There is a move today in the churches that insist we "born again" gentiles are the missing tribe of Israel, and if we're not then we can't really be children of God! I want to say right now that is a false teaching. We gentiles have never been nor will we ever be Jewish. We are adopted/grafted into the family of Abraham and Jesus Christ through the precious Blood, but that doesn't make us Jewish.
There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus Gal 3:28
Praise God! The Lord demands a circumcision of the heart. We must be free from sin to take part in the Holy Meal set before us. What about the modern Jewish family, how do they celebrate the Passover?
Today's Jews combine the Passover with the Feast of Unleavened Bread. The Hebrew word "Pesach" means passing by or over, which signifies the combining of the two feasts. The month of March or April is when Pesach takes place.
In the fourteenth day of the first month at even is the LORD's pass- over. And on the fifteenth day of the same month is the feast of unleavened bread unto the LORD: seven days ye must eat unleavened bread. Lev 23:5-6
This is a major holiday lasting seven days. The day before Pesach:
The house is swept thoroughly clean; not a crumb can be found anywhere. The Father walks through the house inspecting it for any crumb. There must be no "leaven" in his house! Leaven = represents sin as leaven rises so does sin increase
Again we see here how it's the Father of the house that is to inspect the home making sure there is no leaven [sin] in the family! Men need to accept their responsibility in protecting their family.
There are special utensils, dishes, and pans used at this time. Only food and things like soap marked "kosher for Passover" can be used. There can never be any contact with anything containing leaven or chametz. Chametz = is a mixture of flour and water, this contains no leaven but it is allowed to rise.
Kosher = this is something blessed by a Rabbi
The mother hides ten pieces of leavened bread around the house. That night the children must find all the leavened bread, using only a candle or flashlight putting each piece of bread into a paper bag.
The night is far spent [gone], the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light. Romans 13:12
The armor of light is the full armor of God... read Eph 6.
And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them. For it is a shame even to speak of those things which are done of them in secret. But all things that are reproved are made manifest by the light: for whatsoever doth make manifest [where everything is visible and clear there] is light. Eph 5:11-13
The next day:
The pieces of leavened bread are burned in a ceremony called "the burning of the chametz". Fires cleanse, such as Sodom and Gomorrah, and remember we're tested by fire. This burning ceremony includes this blessing, "Blessed are you, O Lord our God, ruler of the universe, who hallows us with mitzvot and commands us to burn chametz". Mitzvot = this is a commandment or a religious duty. Hallows us = this sets apart for God, the opposite of common.
